Paula + Jean met on Tinder (which we love, since we met there too) and quickly realized that they “were the exact same human, just living on opposite sides of the water.” He was in med school at Yale, she the same at Stony Brook. Both came from immigrant parents. Both had work ethics they didn’t have to apologize for.

Paula told us in one of her first emails, “Our first date, hands down, was the best first date of my life and actually, the best day of my life. The second I saw him, it felt like we had already known each other for forever.

I couldn’t find parking and so he had me pick him up in front of the bar and we found parking together. I know it sounds unromantic, but the romance was in the fact that it felt like we had done this before – solved problems together. I was completely comfortable.

The whole night was like that – we walked around New Haven, talking and hanging out like it was our 1000th date and not our first.

We both knew on that date that we were done, that we were going to marry each other. We told each other we loved each other, probably no more than a few weeks after that.”

It was an easy decision to meet up with these two in the city they love where they fell in love. We snuck into hidden courtyards where they first held hands, the library where they would spend hours studying together, and the convenience store where they shared their first kiss.
