Victoria + JD’s wedding at the Gallaher Mansion and Cranbury Park in Norwalk Connecticut still stands out to us as one of the best days of last year. They traveled from Vermont to Connecticut and got married Memorial Weekend, when we were surprised by the first heat wave of the year. Fortunately, the heat couldn’t stop them from having an amazing day.
To keep themselves and their guests cool on their big day, JD brought his homemade mead. They performed a traditional toast during the ceremony and drank it heartily throughout the evening. It was DELICIOUS.
Cranbury Park has so much to offer. They snuck underneath the enormous weeping beech tree, with its twisted roots and dappled light for their first look. Their ceremony was held out in the lawn, with the gorgeous mansion as a backdrop. After they tied the knot, Alex and I were lucky to steal them away and find some shade on the disc golf course to take some portraits before their tented reception. Victoria joked that she wasn’t sure if JD would be proclaiming his love to her or to disc golf on their wedding day.
While these two are as opposite as they come (Victoria calculated and meticulous, JD spontaneous and karma driven), they complement each other beautifully and have built their relationship on what Victoria says is “humor, pizza, and espresso.” It became very clear to Alex and I that they are obviously built on much more than that. Humor, yes, as we laughed through most of the day, but also adventure, hospitality, and always being thankful for one another. Their wedding was a special day in which Victoria + JD joined their lives with not only each other but with JD’s young son, solidifying their new, beautiful family.
Victoria + JD, we trust this past (almost) year of marriage has been as joy filled as the first day of your forever. Thank you for letting us be a witness to it.
